NHS Services

We dispense NHS prescriptions (paper and electronic) and give advice on how to get the most benefit from your medicines. We can also dispense NHS repeat dispensing prescriptions. All medicines are dispensed in child resistant containers unless you ask us not to.

When you are prescribed a medicine to treat a long-term condition for the first time, the pharmacist will support you to use the medicine safely and to best effect. The service is only available to people using certain medicines, please ask in store or call for details.

You can return all unwanted medicines to the pharmacy where we will dispose of them safely.

We offer both NHS and private flu vaccinations on a walk-in basis, as well as give advice on staying well in the winter.

Our pharmacist will take your blood pressure and take the necessary follow up steps depending on your reading. This could include giving you advice on maintaining or adopting a healthy lifestyle, arranging appropriate medication if required or a referral to your GP.

As a Healthy Living Pharmacy, our pharmacist and trained assistants are available for advice on all medicines and minor ailments, in private if required. We can also give you advice on how to live a healthy life, for example, advice on how to stop smoking or healthy diets. We can direct you to other sources of advice and assistance if we cannot help you ourselves.

We keep a wide range of over the counter medicines and related products, including our own range of vitamins. Our staff members can help you to select the most appropriate products for your needs.

We are proud to be working in partnership with Connect Health at our main branch in Openshaw to offer pain management services to the local community.

Patients are referred to our pharmacy from a local hospital for treatment to help them stop smoking. The service involves one to one appointments with a pharmacist over a number of weeks.

You can have a confidential consultation with our pharmacist to request a prescription for the contraceptive pill either for the first time, or to access your next supply of oral contraception directly from our pharmacist, rather than from your GP or sexual health clinic.

Our pharmacy can support you with seven common illnesses without needing a GP appointment. It involves pharmacists providing advice & NHS-funded treatment where appropriate, for seven common conditions; sinusitis, sore throat, ear infection in children, infected insect bite, impetigo, shingles and urinary tract infection in women.
